Due: Project Corrections & book in class

In class, students finished their "This I Believe" essays and had time to read or to finish one of their creative writing stories from the week.

Thursday, May 27

Due: None.

In class, students finished their 4th and last Harris Burdick story. Then, we discussed NPR's "This I believe" essay campaign and students wrote their own "This I Believe" essays.

HW: (1) Bring a book tomorrow for a grade and (2) Project corrections due tomorrow and (3) SSR Due Wednesday, June 2nd

Wednesday, May 26

Due: None.

In class, students completed a 3rd Harris Burdick story. Then, we did an activity called "Object in a Bag" where students had to write a story about an object given to them and the rest of the class had to guess which object they were writing about.

HW: 3 Cups Project Corrections due Friday & SSR Due Wednesday, June 2nd.

Tuesday, May 25

Due: None.

In class, I passed back a lot of papers to the students. Then, they completed their 2nd Harris Burdick story and did a story starter activity for the rest of class.

HW: Read! If you want to do corrections for your 3 Cups of Tea project - the corrections are due Friday!

Monday, May 24

Due: None.

In class, students wrote stories based on pictures (w/captions) on the board. These are called "Harris Burdick" stories. Then, students worked on "Stories in the Round" where they passed around story starters to others in the class and worked to complete each others' stories.

HW: Read -- SSR Reading + Reading Reflections DUE Wednesday, June 2!

Thursday, May 6

Due: None.

Today kids continued working on their projects ...

HW: Projects DUE tomorrow at the START of class!

Wednesday, May 5

Due: None.

In class, students completed an EOG Review and then had the rest of class time to work on their projects (due Friday).

HW: Bring in any materials you need to work on your project tomorrow (also read!)
