Due: Vocab 3 Flashcards and "Message to a Friend" poem
In class, students wrote a half page responding to the questions: Of the characters we have read about so far, who do you relate to the most? Explain.
Then, we discussed the "Bronx Masquerade Questions" from Monday. Finally, kids took notes on sound devices in poetry and looked for examples in the song "Summer in the City."

In class, students turned in their TOC and we introduced a new unit. In class we will be reading Bronx Masquerade - a book which discusses the Harlem Renaissance, life in the Bronx, and poetry! We discussed some of these themes today and will begin reading tomorrow.
HW: Vocab. Flashcards due Thursday! Vocab. Quiz Friday :)
