In class students received the 4th vocab list for this quarter. Then, we discussed the Bronx masquerade questions from last week. Finally, the kids completed an imagery activity about Shel Silverstein.

Due: Vocab 3 Flashcards and "Message to a Friend" poem

In class, students wrote a half page responding to the questions: Of the characters we have read about so far, who do you relate to the most? Explain.
Then, we discussed the "Bronx Masquerade Questions" from Monday. Finally, kids took notes on sound devices in poetry and looked for examples in the song "Summer in the City."

In class, students had a few minutes to work on their questions and then turned them in. Then, they read in Bronx and filled in their character chart. finally, students were given time to start writing a "Message to a Friend" poem.

In class, students turned in their TOC and we introduced a new unit. In class we will be reading Bronx Masquerade - a book which discusses the Harlem Renaissance, life in the Bronx, and poetry! We discussed some of these themes today and will begin reading tomorrow.
