Due: Final Essays and Books in class

In class, students took their 4th vocab. quiz for the quarter. Then, they previewed books for our next literature circle and listed the top 3 books they found interesting. Then, students had the rest of the class time to read.

HW: Vocab. Quiz 3 Corrections due Monday & Persepolis permission forms due Monday!

In class, students wrote the last 2 paragraphs of their school issues essays. I also met with each student to discuss the first half of their essays.

In class, we discussed the introduction paragraph as well as the first 2 body paragraphs of students' essays. Students were then given the remainder of class time to work on these first 3 paragraphs.

Today in class students analyzed a variety of editorial cartoons. Then, they determined the school issue they are going to focus on in their own editorial cartoons tomorrow.

In class, students viewed three commercials and looked for different methods of persuasion used in the commercials. Then, we discussed issues within the school and had mini-debates about those issues.
